You Are the One

You may feel all alone right now, but a presentation is really a group endeavor. The audience NEEDS you. They need to hear your message.

You are the only one that can bring them this message: it’s your message. Your perspective is original and valuable. Right here, right now, it is the information you have and your perspective that are important.

What you are about to do is something that humans have been doing for over 200,000 years. It’s a part of our DNA. Each and every one of us.

To share intelligence with others, to share different narratives and scenarios, to build consensus, and form plans together:  according to psychologist Thomas Suddendorf, that is what we do.  That’s what we are called to do as human beings and that is what we do as professional managers.

You are not alone.  Remember, there are over 7 Billion people in the world right now who couldn’t give a damn about this particular presentation or how well you do. So just take a deep breath and go out there and shake things up a little. Go hard. Don’t even think about it.
